Frequently asked questions

Who are your services for?
I work with experienced professionals, and career starters who are navigating career decisions or contemplating a change. My clients come from diverse industries, backgrounds, and stages in their professional lives. Whether you're considering your first career, exploring a pivot, or seeking greater clarity in your career path, my services are tailored to your needs.

Do you offer executive coaching?
While I do not specialize in executive coaching, I have worked with several executives and high-level professionals seeking clarity, alignment with their goals, and actionable strategies for navigating complex challenges in leadership. My approach emphasizes a blend of reflective insight and practical tools tailored to your professional environment.

Is this service covered by health insurance?
No, career counseling and coaching are not considered medical or therapeutic services and are therefore not covered by health insurance. My services are private-pay, and I provide transparent pricing to help you plan accordingly.

Can I deduct your services on my tax return?
In some cases, career counseling or coaching services may be tax-deductible, particularly if they are directly related to improving your current professional skills, maintaining your current employment, or preparing you for new roles within the same career field. However, tax laws vary by country and individual circumstances. I recommend consulting with your tax advisor or accountant to determine if this applies to your situation.
Can I book a single session?
I recommend booking several sessions for the best outcomes, as career decisions often require thoughtful exploration and planning. That said, single sessions are also an option if you need to check in with me only briefly for a work-related issue.

Do you work with clients outside of Seattle?
Yes, I work with clients across the United States and internationally. Sessions are held online via Zoom, making it easy to connect wherever you are.
What are your qualifications?
I am a German-trained psychologist (Diplom-Psychologin) with specializations in industrial/organizational psychology and clinical psychology, as well as a PhD in occupational health psychology. I have a diverse professional background, having worked in healthcare, public services, academia, publishing, and career development, and with clients in the US and Germany. I have also lived in Switzerland, India and the UK. This varied experience allows me to bring a holistic perspective to career transitions, professional development, and workplace well-being.

What languages do you offer services in?
I offer career counseling and coaching in English and German. I do have access to assessments in either language.
Do you offer services for employers?
While my primary focus is on individual clients, I occasionally work with organizations seeking career development or transition support for their employees. Please contact me directly for details.

Do you offer free consultations?
Yes, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and determine if we’re a good fit.
What is your pricing structure?
I offer transparent, fixed-price options to make planning and budgeting easier. You can find all pricing details on my services pages (professionals, students/graduates).
What happens if I don’t know what career I want?
That’s completely fine! Many of my clients come to me feeling unsure or overwhelmed about their next steps. While quite a few make major career changes, many end up finding a more satisfying niche or role in their current field.

What types of assessments do you use?
I use a wide range of scientifically validated assessments to help you gain clarity about your career path. These include tools to explore your personality, interests, values, and cognitive profile. For more details, please visit my Career Assessments page.

Can I use assessments I’ve already taken?
Absolutely! If you have results from tools like the MBTI, the Strong Interest Inventory, or any other assessments, I can integrate them into our discussions.

Do I have to complete all the assessments?
No, we can tailor the assessments to your personal needs.
